Habañero Crew Brightens Up CNIB Office
June 18, 2008
As part of the 2008 United Way Day of Caring, 22 Habañero employees rolled up their sleeves to paint the hallways of the Vancouver office of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) and the walls of its Rehabilitation Teaching Suite. The CNIB helps more than 16,000 children and adults living with vision loss across British Columbia each year.

Team Habañero
Habañero has been supporting the United Way Day of Caring for the past four years:
- In 2006, the team built planters and moved soil in support of The World in a Garden—Multicultural Youth Seed-to-Table Project, which provides youth with experiential learning opportunities to plant, tend, and harvest food for low-income families.
- In 2005, the team helped paint the playroom at West Side Family Place, a resource centre dedicated to supporting families with young children.
- In 2004, the team got down and dirty cleaning the warehouse for A Loving Spoonful, an organization that provides free nutritious meals to people living with HIV in the Greater Vancouver area.
The United Way of the Lower Mainland Day of Caring is an annual event that allows employees to develop team-building skills by taking part in meaningful local work projects.
