Bowling for Big Brothers

Four Habañero Consulting Group employees participated in the 2008 Bowl for Big Brothers Classic on February 25, 2008 at the Commodore Lanes in Vancouver. The team, which consisted of Mark Bice, Kathleen Moynahan, Patricia Lizama, and Peter McFarlane, raised close to $1400, half of which was generously donated by Habañero.

As part of the 2007 United Way Day of Caring, 10 Habañero employees left their desk jobs behind for an afternoon and got down and dirty building planters and moving soil. The effort was in support of The World in a Garden—Multicultural Youth Seed-to-Table Project. The program will provide approximately 200 youth with experiential learning opportunities to plant seeds in the soil, tend the gardens, observe growth, and harvest food that will be donated to the food bank and low-income families.

2007 United Way Campaign a Sizzling Success

We’re proud to announce that our 2007 United Way employee campaign was a resounding success. Now in our sixth consecutive campaign year, the Habañero team was again awarded an Employee Gold Award by delivering strong results: close to 80% of Habañero’s 49 employees donated, raising close to $20,000.

There were a few things that offered the team some extra inspiration and fun this year. Instead of enjoying our regular Habañero-provided Friday lunch, we decided to host a potluck lunch and donate the equivalent cost to the campaign. We had a representative from United Way come to speak to us about the people the organization helps. And lastly, we held 50/50 BINGO games in the office.

But our fearless leaders provided the kind of incentive we really understand—food! Cooking up fresh pancakes, sizzling sausages, and steaming hot coffee, our Leadership Team came through on their promise to prepare breakfast for our entire office. Of course our real motivation was the knowledge we were supporting United Way, an organization that brings together resources to care for the social service needs of the community and supports the delivery of more than 400 programs and services.

Drives and other giving

We hold food and clothing drives within our office on a regular basis. As a matter of fact, the only way to get drink tickets at our Christmas parties is by offering up food donations. (We collect a lot of food!)

We also enthusiastically sponsor a family each Christmas through the YWCA's Sponsor a Family program.

We support our employees' charitable work

Habañero is proud of our employees' charitable spirits, efforts, and activities. We encourage all employees to give to causes they care about, and we fully respect and support their commitments.
