User Experience Design & Optimization: Credit Union Central of BC

The Business Need

Credit Union Central of British Columbia (CUCBC) provides leadership, advocacy, support services and technology products to credit unions across Canada. CUCBC wanted to update and integrate two of their key offerings, a brandable public website and an online banking application, to create a seamless user experience and facilitate one-to-one marketing for its credit union members.

The Solution

CUCBC chose Habañero as its consulting partner for its experience in the financial services sector and its expertise in building an intuitive information architecture supported by thorough usability testing at its Human Computer Interaction lab. Habañero worked closely with CUCBC, VanCity and North Shore Credit Union to develop the information architecture for the new site, solve usability issues and ratify navigation and design decisions.

The Results

Habañero dramatically improved the usability of CUCBC's new integrated website - in some cases improving the success rate of a task from 40 percent to 100 percent! By identifying and fixing many of the site's issues early in the project, Habañero helped reduce project costs associated with making design changes during the development phase. Credit unions are now in a better position to market directly to their members while providing them with a seamless online banking experience.
