Habañero Consulting Group, a Vancouver-based consulting services firm, today announced that they have created a solution that will allow the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia (CLE) to respond to growing customer demand to publish its legal reference materials online.
This solution allows CLE to produce two formats of publications, paper and online, with the same tools and effort they have always used to create paper-only publications. The new online format is providing CLE with a new revenue stream and users with additional online features that provide valuable related information with the click of a mouse. Minimal training is required; CLE employees work productively with Microsoft Office Word 2003, part of an efficient, flexible, and powerful publishing system.
This solution allows CLE to solidify its reputation for high-quality, technologically advanced, professional legal education and development. Significant revenue increases are anticipated through an estimated 43 percent additional sales generated from the new online products. CLE expects an internal rate of return of 46 percent, with a payback of 19 months.
"Habañero played a critical role in helping us define a structured approach to evaluate and purchase the right technology for our goals," says Dennis Cole, C.A., Director of Finance and Administration at CLE. "We are a small organization of 35 employees, with an IT department of 2 and a very limited budget. We needed a relatively inexpensive technology solution that would not put a big strain on our IT department, integrate easily with our existing business processes and not unduly disrupt our staff."
CLE's production team used the new solution to convert a 1,600-page manual for publishing online. The online version of BC Probate and Estate Administration Practice Manual comes complete with links to full-text cases and legislation, downloadable forms and precedents, and full-text searching across the entire publication.
Over forty companies were selected by Microsoft to showcase solutions based on the productivity toolset at the Microsoft Office System launch event in New York, NY today. This is one of two solutions that Habañero is demonstrating during the launch event.
"Our business mandate is to help organizations use technology to become more productive and successful", says Steven Fitzgerald, President, Habañero Consulting Group. "The Microsoft Office System has allowed us to produce better results for our clients with less effort and cost than would have previously been required."
